Budget was a tax con!
8th May 2008
Gordon Brown's last budget was a tax con, not a tax cut, with the 2p cut in income tax funded by the abolition of the 10p rate.
The Government's attempt to rectify this mistake is yet another con.
Despite their efforts over 63% of those families effected will still be worse off.
It is not surprising that one of the Labour Party's own MP's, Frank Field, has described the situation as being "clear as mud". Where is Bob Blizzard on this? His explanation of an already confused situation in his Letter from Westminster does not help, calling for complicated reimbursements and form filling.
Instead of tax cons this Government must stop penalising the most vulnerable.
