MP for Waveney Peter Aldous is encouraging his young constituents to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) this February half term.

The programme is open to all 15-17 year olds and helps to develop vital skills for the future.

Mr Aldous said: “I met a great group of young people when I visited an NCS programme last year. I was really impressed with their confidence, enthusiasm and desire to better themselves for the future.”

Stand out from the crowd

NCS is a the perfect way for young people to stand out from the crowd in an increasingly competitive job market.

Research has revealed that six in ten employers consider extra-curricular experiences as important as academic achievements, and NCS is the perfect opportunity for young people to demonstrate exactly what they’re made of.

The programme starts with an exciting trip to an outdoors activity centre, where young people work together to overcome challenging outward-bounds activities.

Teens then attend a series of exclusive local workshops designed to develop key skills such as interview techniques, CV writing and budgeting.

The programme ends with a group project that young people design and deliver to benefit the local community.

Mr Aldous said: “NCS is a unique chance for every young person to learn skills that help enhance their CVs and university applications. It’s also a great opportunity to make important connections that could very well last a lifetime.

“I’d definitely encourage young people to get involved with NCS while they still can.”
