Following on from Barclays announcement on Friday that it is to close its Bungay branch, MP for Waveney Peter Aldous is arranging to meet the Bank to obtain a full explanation as to the reasons for their decision. Ahead of the meeting he’d like to hear from constituents, both residents and businesses, with their views.

Barclays have announced that they will be closing their Bungay branch on Friday 23rd October 2015.  The Bank advise that since 2008 the overall use of this branch has fallen by 54%  and that on average 51% of our customers are already using other branches.

Following closure, their nearest branch will be at 23 New Market Place, Beccles.

Peter commented:
“This announcement is disappointing as Barclay’s Bungay branch has been serving customers in the Waveney valley for a very long time. I wish to obtain from them a fuller explanation of the decision and to scrutinise it closely. To do this, I welcome feedback from residents and businesses in Bungay and the surrounding area.”
