Having listened carefully to the various arguments that have been put forward in the past few months, I’ve decided to campaign for the UK to remain in the EU.

The EU is far from perfect and at times its bureaucracy can be stifling. Reform must be an ongoing process so as to provide the greater flexibility that the 28 nations need so that they can work more effectively together in the best interests of their respective citizens. It is in this respect that I believe that the Prime Minister’s negotiations are an important step forward and protect Britain from further  political integration.

My prime objective as MP for Waveney is to help attract new jobs and investment to the area. Having considered carefully feedback from local businesses, I’ve concluded that we will be best placed to  secure this goal if the UK remains in the EU.

At the current time the UK faces significant threats to our national security. I believe that we will address these most effectively working with other European countries rather than on our own.

Over the next 4 months the Debate will be intense. Many have already made up their minds and have strongly held views. A significant number have yet to do so. It is important that the facts and counter arguments are presented clearly, calmly and dispassionately so as to assist them in reaching their decision
