Waveney MP Peter Aldous today welcomed the news that Suffolk County Council will be working on a new model of ownership for the County’s 44 libraries.

The Consultation on the future of the County’s libraries closes on 30th April with over 2,500 responses received to date. A number of expressions of interest have been received offering creative ways to retain library services whilst cutting costs.

Mr Aldous said:

“I welcome Suffolk County Council’s willingness to work with communities to keep libraries open and to ensure that they have a sustainable long term future. I look forward to working with communities and Suffolk County Council to do all I can to ensure that all the libraries in Waveney remain open.”
