Waveney MP Peter Aldous today attended a gathering of global industry at the Offshore Europe Oil and Gas Conference in Aberdeen.

Mr Aldous attended the event to meet with industry representatives of the oil and gas industry and promote the Waveney area’s huge potential in the sector.

The three day event – with an exhibition area covering more than 25,000 square metres welcomes international delegations visiting from around the world, including Brazil, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Malaysia.

The event debated and discussed the key issues facing the industry and featured a Deep Water Zone, an entire hall dedicated to the offshore sector’s push to safely and responsibly develop hydrocarbons in some of the world’s most challenging deepwater environments.

The event featured more oil and gas operating companies than ever before, including Majors such as Shell, BP, Petrobras, ExxonMobil and Chevron. Other international operating companies participating include Statoil, Saudi Aramco, GDF Suez, Centrica, BG Group, DONG, Maersk, Cepsa, ENI, Petronas Carigali, Premier Oil, TAQA, Total, Addax Petroleum and INPEX.

SPE Offshore Europe is held every two years, and organised by The Offshore Europe Partnership – a joint venture between Reed Exhibitions Ltd. and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Mr Aldous said:

It is important to promote the unique potential we have in Waveney at every opportunity and to ensure that businesses aware of the benefits of investing here. The area should become even more attractive with the confirmation of the Lowestoft and Yarmouth Enterprise Zone which will offer new businesses significant incentives to invest in Waveney.”
