Local businesses will get a helping hand to trade their goods abroad next month, when Waveney MP Peter Aldous and Suffolk Coastal MP Therese Coffey host an exporting conference.

Representatives from UK Trade & Investment and UK Export Finance will also be on hand to give advice to SME's in doing business overseas.

At the moment 20% of British small and medium sized companies currently export goods abroad but across Europe that figure is closer to a quarter.

Peter Aldous said: "East Suffolk has a long and proud history in trading with other countries and currently there is considerable potential to increase exports, thereby bringing more jobs to the area. At the meeting guidance and advice will be given on how best to take advantage of these opportunities"

Therese added: "We are inviting local businesses to come along and learn first-hand from a real life exporter about how they can do business overseas. There will also be an opportunity for one-to-one meetings with representatives from the UKTI and UK Export Finance"
