Waveney MP Peter Aldous today welcomed the Government's allocation of a £1.9 million loan to provide site servicing to two Enterprise Zone sites in Lowestoft; at Mobbs Way and on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate.

The fund will be used to finance the servicing of the sites, which can then be made available to businesses in the energy sector. This announcement coincides with an upturn in interest from companies in the oil and gas and decommissioning industries.

The New Anglia Enterprise Zone will help bring forward for development areas with considerable potential for attracting new businesses to the area and for creating new jobs. The 6 zones in Lowestoft, Beccles and Great Yarmouth are targeted on the energy sector.

Mr Aldous said:

"This loan is fantastic news and can play an important role in creating jobs and boosting the local economy. These sites can play a significant role in attracting businesses at an exciting time in the energy sector where there are some really great opportunities for growth in the Waveney area."

The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership for Norfolk and Suffolk will continue to work in collaboration with the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and infrastructure developers to investigate whether any further funds will be made available in the future.
