On Friday, Waveney MP Peter Aldous joined Henry Nimmo, community and business leaders to open the new station shop. The Station Shop at Lowestoft Central, which has been sensitively refurbished by Mr Nimmo is a traditional station shop, newsagent and off license offering everything for the rail traveller.

Peter Aldous said: “This Station Shop opening is another step in the right direction for Lowestoft Station and I congratulate Henry Nimmo in the commitment which he has made in the premises and the imaginative and stylish way in which he has carried out the work. The shop has an important role to play in both encouraging greater use of the trains and the regeneration of Station Square..”

James Reeve, Head of Customer Service, North for Abellio Greater Anglia said: “I’m very pleased that Peter Aldous MP is officially opening the new station shop at Lowestoft. We are very keen to encourage enterprising local businesses to provide our customers with good quality retail facilities at our stations and I should like to wish Henry Nimmo every success with this venture.”

Colin Law, Leader of Waveney District Council said: “The existing Railway Station is in an unacceptable condition and this is a positive move towards improving the Station and the surrounding area. Working with partners we're aiming to bring back a vibrant mix of retail and commercial businesses with the long-term objective of making the whole building more attractive and welcoming.

“We are part of a partnership group with Network Rail, Greater Anglia and Lowestoft Vision developing a major project to renovate the Station Building as identified in the Area Action Plan. It will be the catalyst for further investment in the location and forms part of a wider programme to improve connections between the town centre, the railway station, the quay side and the beach.”
