Waveney MP Peter Aldous has today written to the Chancellor urging him to reduce fuel duty by 3p in next week’s Budget.

 

Aldous is continuing his campaign on fuel costs seeking to ensure that families and business in the Waveney area, many of whom rely on their vehicles for essential business or domestic transport are not hit by fuel price rises. 

 

He highlights the challenges that Waveney faces in explaining why it is particularly important for the region that fuel duty is reduced:-

It is predicted that a 3p duty cut will be self-financing, generate over 70,000 jobs, increase GDP and help lower inflation.

 

Mr Aldous said:

“I am concerned about the continuing high burden of fuel prices at a time when people have seen a rise in the cost of living and are struggling with their household budgets. This is a particular issue for businesses and people in the Waveney area, many of whom live in rural areas and have no alternative but to use their cars. Driving is not a choice but a necessity and I shall continue to press the Government and do what I can to prevent a fuel duty increase going ahead.”
