Consultation on the future of adult and dementia mental health services provided by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

The consultation carried out by the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (Health East) into the future of adult and dementia health services provided by the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area finished last week.

Health East advise that approximately 1000 representations were received. These will now be analysed by the University of East Anglia who will then provide a report to Health East, who will then decide which courses to pursue with regard to the three proposals on which they are consulting.

During the consultation, Peter Aldous, MP for Waveney, has kept in close contact with Health East; meeting them, feeding back the views and concerns of constituents and other interested parties and attending the public meeting at Beccles on 25th March.

He will continue to keep in close contact with them as they work up their recommendations.

Peter Aldous commented:
“It is good news that Health East undertook this consultation as it is vitally important that they are aware of the concerns and needs of Waveney residents in deciding on the form and shape of the mental health services that they commission from the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. I shall be keeping in close contact with them whilst they work up their recommendations so as to ensure that these are in the best possible interest of Waveney residents.”
