Aldous backs Macmillan’s cancer awareness coffee mornings

Waveney MP Peter Aldous is backing Macmillan’s cancer awareness coffee mornings which are set to raise over £15 million for cancer.

Macmillan Cancer Support are hosting coffee mornings across the Waveney area to raise money for vital cancer services. Over 2000 people across Norfolk and Suffolk have registered to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on September 27th, with local events hoping to contribute significantly to the £15 million target.

Mr Aldous said:

"The majority of people in Waveney have been affected by cancer, whether they have been diagnosed with it themselves or know someone who has been. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a fantastic fundraising event and important for raising awareness about cancer.”

Macmillan’s fundraising manager for East Suffolk and Waveney, Mandy Jordan, added:

“We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us. The great thing about the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is that it is really easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself. If you can’t do it on September 27th then just pick another day, if you’re not keen on coffee and would rather have cocktails or even herbal tea then that’s fine. All that matters is that you spend some time with the people who matter to you and raise some money for people affected by cancer at the same time.”
