Waveney MP Peter Aldous today encouraged constituents to respond to a consultation to scope a study on the supply of energy.
After writing to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) in December setting out the concerns of Waveney constituents over the huge fuel price rises this winter, Aldous received a reply detailing the study.
The study will look at whether the market is working for ‘off-grid’ energy consumers who use heating oil, LPG and solar panels. The study has been brought forward after pressure from the Department of Energy and Climate Change to allow time to consider any recommendations before next winter.
Mr Aldous said:
“It has been a particularly difficult winter for many in areas who rely on heating oil who have experienced huge rises in the cost of heating their homes. I encourage people to input to the scope of the Off-grid Market Study which will provide the Government with an in-depth review of the failings of the market this winter and hopefully provide recommendations to ensure we avoid this next winter.”
