CEFAS – Endorsement for Lowestoft

Following on from a recent meeting with CEFAS to discuss their plans for the future location of their operations, Waveney MP Peter Aldous is next week meeting with Suffolk County Council and Waveney District Council to consider in full proposals for CEFAS to remain in Lowestoft, building on the area’s strong potential for offshore energy and marine research.

Peter Aldous commented: - “Lowestoft clearly has the potential to provide a high quality, well located new base for CEFAS and working with the councils and other interested parties it is important to ensure that they are provided with what they are looking for”.

The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, the business and local authority led organisation who drive economic development across Suffolk and Norfolk, have also confirmed that they believe that the best solution is for CEFAS to remain in Lowestoft.

Andy Wood, Chairman of the New Anglia LEP, commented: “CEFAS is a key employer in the Waveney area and we believe it has a bright future in Lowestoft. Working with our local authority colleagues and others, we are determined to do what we can to ensure the organisation remains in the town.”
