Peter Aldous MP opens new post office current account at Lowestoft Post Office to support East Anglia trial

MP for Waveney Peter Aldous officially visited Lowestoft Post Office yesterday to open a new Post Office Current Account being trialled at 29 branches in East Anglia including Lowestoft, 51 London Road North, NR32 1AA.

The trial will provide valuable insight into how Post Office Ltd could adapt its Current Account offering before a full launch across the network planned for 2014.

Mr Aldous said:
“The Post Office is well established, trusted and respected so it is great that The Post Office has launched these Current Accounts. The trial is currently in East Anglia. Once an Account is opened at one of the trial offices then the account can be used in The Post Office’s extensive network of more than 11,800 branches or ATMs, so people can do their banking transactions easily without any fuss and without the need to travel far.”

The Post Office has just launched three new current accounts offering customers choice, good value, fair and transparent products with no hidden charges and access to the largest branch network in the UK.”

The new Post Office current accounts, in partnership with Bank of Ireland UK, offer greater choice for customers as well as a more inclusive approach to banking. There are three accounts on offer - Standard, Packaged and Control, each designed to appeal to different customer needs. For more information see the attached detailed press release or visit

Lowestoft Branch Manager, Clare King said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be offering the current account in our branch. This is an important step forward for Great Yarmouth Post Office and especially for our customers and the local community. We already offer a number of financial services products and this new account will further meet our customers’ needs. We have worked very hard to offer accounts that are fair and transparent with no surprises.

“We have two specialists who can give information and open Current Accounts. We have had a variety of people opening the accounts from people who live in Lowestoft to more rural areas as once an account is open they can do their banking at their nearest Post Office.”
