Jeremy Hunt, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, visited the Marina Theatre last week, where he was given a guided tour of the Waveney District Council run theatre.

Accompanied by Peter Aldous, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Waveney, Mr Hunt was told about the work that has been done in the past 3 years to make the theatre a popular venue. He commented: "I am very impressed with what I have seen at the Marina, in terms of the programme of shows that is being put on and the enthusiasm with which the Theatre is being run. Performing arts have a vital role to play in the Lowestoft area and it is very important that productions such as the Royal Philharmonic's performances are available close at hand and people do not have to travel long distances to see such shows".
