Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

If you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have been adversely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19), you may be able to use the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme to claim a grant.

The scheme allows eligible self-employed people to claim a taxable grant of 80% of their average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months, and capped at £7,500. Those eligible will have the money paid into their bank account within six working days of making a claim.

To make a claim, go to GOV.UK and search for ‘Self-Employment Income Support Scheme’. Once online, you will be asked to enter your:

  • Unique Tax Reference (UTR)
  • National Insurance Number and Government Gateway password and user ID
  • Bank account details and the address the bank account is registered to for HMRC to make the payment.

If you believe you are eligible for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and have not received any contact from HMRC, please use the eligibility checker here after 17 May to check, and if eligible, claim.
