Peter Aldous MP was joined by Health Minister, Dr Daniel Poulter MP, in a visit to the Lowestoft Out of Hospital team and Kirkley Mill Health Campus yesterday.

They were both impressed at the innovative new ways of working being shown within the Out of Hospital team and the great results that they were already seeing for patients who now receive a seamless service between health and social care. The team provides intensive support for people at home during a time of crisis and by doing so they have managed to reduce the number of emergency admissions into the local acute provider, the James Paget Hospital. There has been a reduction of 9% in emergency admissions from the Lowestoft area since the team was launched last April. This is 318 avoided admissions (data to the end of November 2014).

The visit included a tour of the new £6m Health Centre facility at Kirkley which brings GP services, community services and some hospital clinics all together on one site for patients in Lowestoft.
