Waveney MP Peter Aldous today commented on the closure of Lowestoft County Court as a result of the Government’s Courts Consultation.

Aldous is writing to all those who had contacted him and those who responded to his own consultation about the proposed closure asking them to keep him informed of the impact of the closure on the local community.

Mr Aldous said:

“Whilst I am disappointed to hear that the many functions of Lowestoft County Court are to be lost, it appears that the Government have listened to concerns about the proximity of court services to our local communities and the court will retain part-time hearings and a counter service as well as drop box and copying facilities at Lowestoft Magistrates Court. This will enable some of the most vulnerable people who are most likely to be affected to access court services. I will be writing to all those who contacted me over the period of the consultation ensuring that I am kept informed of the impact of the changes.”
