Waveney MP Peter today expressed dismay that the traditional Lowestoft Carnival Parade may have to take place off road due to red tape.

Both the Carnival and the Lowestoft Scouting Association’s yearly St George’s Day parade are facing ‘red tape’ difficulties in the organisation of their events.

Peter Aldous said:

“It is unacceptable for these types of event to face such red tape and costs. Not only are they greatly enjoyed by the community, but they also raise a lot of money for charity. I know that Waveney District Council are exploring the creation of a community fund in partnership with the County Council to address the problem. I fully support these efforts to ensure that these important events take place.”
