Waveney MP Peter Aldous today announced the finalised agenda for his Suffolk Broadband Conference to take place on April 6th at the Waveney House Hotel, Beccles.

Mr Aldous has secured a number of major speakers for the event including keynote speaker, Minister for Communications, Culture and the Creative Industries, Ed Vaizey MP. Other speakers include Robert Ling from Broadband Delivery UK – the body responsible for allocating Government funding to the regions; Bill Murphy, Director of Next Generation Access at BT and fellow Suffolk MP, Dan Poulter.

The conference has been organised by Mr Aldous in support of the bids being submitted for funding, including the Choose Suffolk bid for Broadband Delivery UK funding to be submitted by April 18th.
Mr Aldous said:

“This conference aims to kick-start a dialogue between the people of Suffolk, including those in Waveney, about broadband services. Having good quality, fast broadband connectivity is going to be crucial in the future and with public money on the table I want to ensure that a two way conversation is started to ensure we get the best solutions for different localities. The conference is just the start of the process whereby any successful funding bids will need to demonstrate a continuing dialogue with local people about what they want and what they are prepared to pay for.”

Mr Aldous has set up an online blog as a hub for the post-conference discussion at: http://peteraldousmp.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/broadband-essential-to-our-economic-recovery/

Aldous added:
“I will be encouraging constituents to submit entries to my broadband blog which will be the hub for a continuing discussion. This gives me the chance to ensure the views of Waveney constituents are passed on to those involved in bidding for and procuring for broadband services.”
