Waveney MP Peter Aldous is pushing for a funding solution to improve Lowestoft Railway Station.

Aldous is following up from his Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons on 15th May in which he argued that there is a compelling case for the refurbishment of the station as a gateway to Lowestoft for business, shopping and tourism..

Aldous has written to representatives including Suffolk County Council, Waveney District Council, Suffolk and Lowestoft Chambers of Commerce, Greater Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, Network Rail, Lowestoft Town Centre Partnership suggesting that a Local Delivery Group to work up a blueprint as to how the station and its surrounds can best be developed. This Group would aim to explore all funding opportunities.

Mr Aldous said:

“Lowestoft Station is an important means of transport for local people but it is also one of the main gateways to the East of England for tourism and business. I was pleased to raise this in the House of Commons in May but now the hard work begins of working with local people to assess what changes should be proposed and where the funding will come from.”
