Badger Building

Badger Building were pleased to welcome Nick Boles, MP – Minister for Housing and Development to Lowestoft yesterday. Accompanied by Peter Aldous MP for Waveney, they visited the Pinebanks housing development on the site of the old fire station on Normanston Drive, before moving on to Caldecott Road in Oulton Broad, where redevelopment of the former Pegasus Boatyard for 76 hoses and flats along with an office and boatyard, is due to start shortly.
Mr Boles was particularly interested in the innovative approach that Badger have taken to the provision of low cost housing for sale at Pinebanks, where a shared equity scheme has been agreed, in partnership with Waveney Council.
The visit was arranged jointly by Peter Aldous and the Federation of Master Builders as a way of giving the Minister an insight in to development by smaller builders away from the capital.
Peter Aldous said that .. “At a time when the housing market is recovering, it was good to welcome the Minister to Lowestoft, so that he could receive feedback from Badger Building on the success of the Help to Buy Equity Loan Scheme and their joint approach with Waveney District Council to offer homes for sale on a shared equity basis. Both these initiatives are very important in making homes more affordable, so that more people can buy their own home”.
