Waveney MP Peter Aldous has today signed an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons on Fuel Duty and the Cost of Living.

Mr Aldous has signed the EDM tabled by Robert Halfon MP after receiving correspondents from Waveney constituents on the impact of fuel costs. Mr Aldous is deeply concerned that not only are families being hit being rising domestic fuel costs but at the same time they are facing an increase in the price of fuel at the pumps in January.

Mr Aldous will be aiming to bring a debate to the House of Commons with fellow MPs to raise the concerns of Waveney Constituents and to urge the Government to consider how best to alleviate the burden of rising fuel prices.

Mr Aldous said:

“The cost of fuel is a massive issue for families and local businesses. At a time when our hard working local businesses are doing all they can to grow and create jobs I am calling on the Government to scrap the proposed 3 pence rise in fuel duty planned for January 2013. I am also calling for a wider review of the cost of domestic fuel and the tariff system. It is completely unacceptable to me that whilst consumers prices go up so do bosses bonuses.”
