Waveney MP Peter Aldous has pledged his support for the Back British Farming campaign and is urging the Government and retailers to do the same.

Mr Aldous signed the campaign charter which is calling for the public, politicians and food industry to back the initiative.

The campaign launched last month with the news that British food supplies would run out on 14th August if all the food produced in Britain in a year was stored and eaten from the first day of January.

Peter Aldous said:

“I welcome the NFU’s Back British Farming campaign. Farming has a crucial economic role to play in my Waveney constituency and we all stand to benefit by supporting local British produce. I fully recognise the importance of the farming industry to our rural communities and it is only right that the Government and retailers bring in measures to support British farming.”
