In response to the further announcement from IPSA regarding their pay rise recommendation, Waveney MP Peter Aldous has confirmed that if re-elected he would not be taking the pay increase.

Mr. Aldous said: “I don’t believe that it is appropriate to do so, whilst public service pay restraint measures remain in place and if the proposals are approved I’d look to set up a Locality Budget, similar to that run by Suffolk County Councillors out of which I’d make donations to charitable and other appropriate causes in the constituency.”

Details of the charitable giving distributions would be available for scrutiny on Peter’s website.
