Peter Aldous MP for Waveney on Friday attended the East Anglia Banking Forum event in Snetterton near Thetford.

The event, hosted by the Federation of Small Business (FSB), aimed to bridge better links between businesses, banks and customers, to encourage people to set up businesses and raise awareness about the support available to businesses during the current challenging economic climate.

Mr Aldous was joined by 5 other MPs from Suffolk and Norfolk, local businesses and representatives from the banking sector to discuss bank lending to small and medium sized businesses (SMEs).

The Government has implemented a number of measures with the objective of supporting SMEs and ensuring that they have the necessary access to funding. These include the Funding for Lending Scheme, the Business Bank, the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme and improvements to the Appeals Process for SMEs announced in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement.

Mr Aldous said:
“Small businesses have a vital role to play in a sustained economic recovery of the Waveney area and constructive dialogue between businesses, banks and MPs such as the Banking Forum is essential to raising awareness about the financial support available to them.”
