Peter Aldous MP for Waveney spent time volunteering in the Beccles British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop on 16 April.  Every penny of profit raised in the BHF shop goes on to fund vital, life-saving research into heart disease.

Mr. Aldous joined the shop staff and volunteers and spent a few hours in the Beccles BHF shop, meeting and greeting customers. The Beccles BHF shop is always looking for volunteers and stock donations, just pop in to find out more or drop your unwanted items off.

Mr. Aldous said: “It was great to spend some time helping in the Beccles BHF shop. The BHF is a great cause and the work they do is vital in the fight against heart disease.

“Meeting all the staff and volunteers was fantastic. Anyone who has some time to spare should pop in and find out more.”

Sonya Pringle Area Manager for Waveney said: “We’re really grateful to Mr. Aldous for coming in, visiting our shop and sparing a few hours of their time. Volunteers are absolutely essential to the success of the charity, and play a vital part in fighting coronary heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer.

“We’re always looking for more volunteers, so even if you can only spare an hour, pop to find out more information.”

The Beccles BHF shop offers a wide variety of roles from merchandising clothes, shoes and accessories to window dressing and working behind the till. BHF shops are keen to hear from people who have a few hours to spare.

Volunteering with the BHF for just half a day could fund one of our scientists to carry out their life-saving research for an hour.  The BHF currently provide the salaries for around 500 post-doctoral scientists who work in research teams right across the UK on projects which help us better understand how to diagnose, prevent, treat and cure heart disease.
