MP Peter Aldous yesterday presented a guest beer from his Waveney constituency to the House of Commons

‘Golden Best’, which is brewed at Green Jack Brewing Company is on sale in the Stranger’s Bar in Parliament for a week commencing on 16th June.

Mr Aldous said:
“I am delighted that ‘Golden Best’ was successful in being selected as guest ale of the week and it’s appropriate to acknowledge the hard work of everyone at the Green Jack brewery in making this possible. It is important to support local breweries and Golden Best’s availability in the Stranger’s Bar will enable Parliamentarians to develop a taste for Waveney.”

Lee Dunford, Director of Green Jack Brewing Company, said:
“We were delighted that Golden Best was selected for the Strangers’ Bar and grateful to Peter Aldous and the team at the bar for making it happen.  We’re very proud of our beers and this was a great opportunity to spread the word about them beyond our usual area of trading.”

The brewing and pub sector play a significant role in the Waveney economy providing approximately 1,100 jobs. With 1 job in brewing creating 21 jobs in pubs, shops, agriculture and the industry’s supply chain, it is an industry that needs to be promoted.

Mr Aldous very much welcomed the end of the Beer Duty Escalator last year, which caused much damage to the beer industry. He also took an active role in the successful campaign for the Chancellor to freeze beer duty for a second year in his March Budget to relieve tax on people who rely on beer and pubs for their livelihood.
