The Government has announced that schools in some of the least fairly funded local areas in the country will benefit from a £390 million cash boost in the biggest step towards fairer schools funding in a decade. The schools budget in Waveney will increase by £10.5 million, addressing an inherent unfairness in the funding arrangements for schools which has been present for some time.

Schools in Waveney will see their per pupil funding increase by 2.8% or £120 million.

Mr. Aldous commented:

'Pupils in Waveney deserve the very best schools so they can gain the skills they need to get on in life. Previous administrations failed to address the unfairness in our funding system which meant that our local schools haven't received the funding they deserved.

I thus welcome this cash boost. It means our schools will get the resources to which they are entitled to and it will help improve the quality of education for all children in the Waveney area.

This new money will help all young people to have the best schools and skills so that they can succeed in life'.
